Facilities & Services

The city of Jaco supplies the same modern amenities as San Jose including a Mas X Menos (local store chain), high-speed Internet, pharmacies, many banks along with a post office. People may top off on misplaced or forgotten things in another of the various stores or surf shops around. Many pharmacies have a pharmacist who can fill many medications along with English speaking staff.

Cellular Phones
Cell phone reception is fairly reliable in Jaco; travelers have easy access to prepaid providers – Claro, Full Kolb Movil, Movistar and Tuyo Movil all provide SIM chips beginning at $5, including the company for Rim smartphones and iPhones.

Public Phones
A couple of pay phones can be found along Jaco’s main street Pastor Diaz.

Internet
Cafes, several restaurants, and resorts offer their people free Wifi. Moreover, visitors can pay around $1 an hour for high-speed connections at one of the Net cafes.

Post Office
The post-office, on the end-of community across from the Clinica Jaco, is open through Friday from 8: 00 a.m. to 4: Saturday from 8, and 30 p.m.: 00 to 12: 00 p.m.

Banks
Local banks like Banco Nacional, Banco de Costa Rica, Banco Popular and BAC San Jose have limbs in town across the main street for cashing traveler's assessments or exchanging money; each comes with an ATM for cash distributions.

Filling Stations
People can use gas up-on their way out or in of town at a gas station to the south end of Jaco along Route 34.

Medical Facilities
The best major public clinic, Hospital Monsenor Sanabria, is found in Puntarenas, less than one hour away by vehicle. The Jaco Red Cross (Tel. 2643-3090) can handle minor incidents and contains ambulance service. Several individual clinics around have staff who can focus on small ailments or check-ups. For many major issues, dial 911.
